Police Roadblocks – Weeks after the Acting IG of Police ordered “No Road Blocks”, a member of the House moved a motion to reverse it.
Mr. Friday Itulah, a Peoples Democratic Party lawmaker from Edo State, however, failed in his bid, because the House rejected the motion.
Itula stressed that the IG’s action had led to increased armed robberies on the highways as they have taken advantage of this.
Itula involved in an interactive session between the House Committee on Police Affairs and also the police to debate the matter.
But, lawmakers rejected the motion in a very majority voice vote.
Against the motion was Mrs. Ayo Omidiran and Mr. Udoh Ibeji who recalled that armed robbers forever unleashed terror on commuters when the checkpoints were in place, whereas the police couldn’t respond appropriately.
