Fuel Subsidy in Nigeria – The Senators yesterday sit against the fuel subsidy removal in Nigeria by President Goodluck Jonathan.
This was discussed in a debate on the 2012 Appropriation Bill at the Senate.
Senator Chris Ngige (ACN) Anambra warned that any attempt to remove the fuel subsidy would not play well for the benefit of the people though he suggested that actions be taken to reduce Nigeria’s debt profile.

Removing this subsidy will not solve our problems. Budgets are supposed to bring smile to the faces of the people but the attempt to remove subsidy will cause them pain.
Senator Abubakar Tutare of the PDP, Adamawa Adamawa noted that the proposed withdrawal of fuel subsidy would further increase the unemploynment rate in the country.
Senator Anthony Adeniyi of the ACN, Ekiti noted that his people were against the removal of subsidy as they will be negatively affected.
Amongst those who spoke includes Senator Sunny Ugbuoji of the PDP; Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, PDP, Abia and Abaribe.

The law makers in Nigeria should think twice not to deceive Nigerians. Let them decide to shed some loads from their salaries and entitlements,to compensate for increase in salaries of low paid worker,to create more jobs for the masses and to control inflation. If I were to be union leaders, I would have pressed the Federal Government to increase the salaries from N18,000 to N75,000. Negotiate for agreement to pay this amount every month. There is no need to make noise on empty nest.Removal of fuel subsidy will bring more smiles to workers if the decision makers are sincere to implement all agreements. The figures and facts are there to take care of this monthly salaries if the leaders want peace in Nigeria.Good enough, the president proposed Fuel subsidy removal. Let him think of good compensations and not by words but by action.Goodluck Jonathan, please do it for the good future of Nigerians. Nigeria will live again!
Our government should not only think of what other countries pay for fuel what about other things the enjoy that we are not, like good health system, minimum salaries , good road, good water and power supply common give poor man a brake we are going to pay same price in fuel like countries like u.s but our minimum salaries is equal to their daily earning
