Cleric, Others shot dead by gunmen in Borno State

3 persons, a cleric and a cobbler were on Thursday night shot dead by suspected members of the Boko Haram sect in Maiduguri, Borno State.

It was conjointly learnt that a suspected member of the sect was killed by the Joint Task Force, JTF, in a shootout within the Maiduguri metropolis.

Likewise, multiple auto crash killed one driver and injured twenty two others at Tamsukau village of the state along the Maiduguri-Damaturu road, on Thursday.

It was gathered that some Boko Haram men had attacked the JTF troops around Gwange couple of minutes to the commencement of the 7pm curfew on Thursday night and subsequently met their waterloo because the military were well prepared for them.

Not too long after the gun battle in Gwange ward, other sect members hacked down one Mohammed Alhaji Bukar (an Islamic scholar) and a cobbler. Sources revealed that those killed were suspected by to be informants of the Department of Security Services, DSS.

PPRO, Samuel Tizhe (assistant superintendent) confirmed the killings of the cleric and cobbler. He said the police have since cordoned off the world, adding that “investigation into the killings have since commenced.”
